Dump truck blocks northbound portion of Highway 49

CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, Ark. (KAIT) – A two-vehicle collision that overturned one vehicle has blocked northbound traffic on Highway 49.

Jonesboro-Craighead County Police E-911 tells K8 News the crash happened around 8 a.m. Thursday, September 5, at the intersection of Craighead County Road 792.

The Arkansas Department of Transportation’s IDriveArkansas website showed traffic was backed up in the northbound lanes.

ArDOT reported injuries.

At 8:30 a.m., K8 news anchor Chase Gage reported that northbound traffic was slow, but the crash appeared to be off the side of the road.

“Traffic is moving, but it’s being directed by officers,” he said. “Very, very slow, but it’s not standing still.”

Drivers are asked to exercise caution and give way to emergency vehicles.
